TAY WEATHERS, SHEAR OPERATOR; NATALIE WEATHERS, MATERIALS AND PROCESSES ENGINEER:
What makes working at Piper a unique experience? Natalie: Materials and Processes Engineer is a very specialized skillset. At Piper, I get to use my technical knowledge of materials and chemistry while learning about airplanes. How cool is that? Tay: Making airplanes is unique. Seeing our aircraft fly gives me a sense of pride knowing that I am part of it.
What do you enjoy the most about sharing the same place of employment as your partner? Natalie: This isn’t the first time my husband and I have worked together. For us, it just works. I like seeing his handsome face at work, even if it is only at lunch. Tay: I like it a lot. This isn’t our first common place of employment. I guess we just can’t get enough of each other.
What do you appreciate the most about working at Piper, in general? Natalie: At a larger company, I wouldn’t be exposed to or responsible for so many things. I like being genuinely needed. Tay: The people. We, the people of Piper, make this place a great place to be employed.
MIKE GORDON, MATERIALS AND PROCESSES ENGINEER; STACY GORDON, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER:
What is unique about your position? Stacy: I have the opportunity to foster and promote Piper’s commitment to build a sustainable future for its community, employees, and customers. I particularly enjoy leading the Green Team, a cross functional team dedicated to continuously improving environmental management. Mike: Materials & Processes engineering gets involved with nearly every aspect of operations at Piper: design, development, procurement, manufacture, assembly, improvement, inspection, investigation, service, and repair.
Do you think the couple that works together, stays together? Stacy: Absolutely! A couple must fundamentally appreciate the importance of working together as a team. I have found that working at the same place of employment has made our relationship even more fulfilling. Mike: I think couples that work together enjoy a greater openness to sharing their work lives with each other and can better engage in discussion.
What do you appreciate the most about working at Piper? Stacy: The best part about working at Piper is the people. I appreciate being a part of a dedicated and diverse team of employees, all with different skills, backgrounds, and talents, working toward a common goal. Mike: Piper is unique because the entire company is run at one single facility; we work in person with our teammates, making the interactions much more effective, meaningful, and enriching.
